Product Description
This is a ghost windsock — a printed polyester body with a stiffened hoop holding the neck open and a cord to hang it by, so it fills out and streams sideways in a breeze instead of hanging flat. A string of small coloured lights sits inside the fabric, so after dark the whole body glows from within and the printed face reads as a hard black silhouette against it.
Lit from the inside
The light comes from an LED string threaded into the body, not from anything in the cloth itself. In every night photograph you can pick out the individual points of pink, blue and white light through the polyester, scattered down the torso and running into the tail. The face is flat black print and stays dark — that contrast is what makes it read from across a garden.
It moves
The hoop at the neck keeps the mouth open so air runs through the body and lifts the two ragged arms and the long trailing tail. Hung from a branch, a porch beam or a gate post it drifts and turns rather than sitting still, and that movement is most of the effect. It is the difference between this and a rigid moulded prop.
Five faces
Five distinct faces run through the supplier's photographs and match the five variants — New Clown, Goblin, Angry, Evil Face and Evil Teeth. Across the images they are a slit-eyed face with a wide jagged grin, a heavy-browed scowl with two fangs, a round-eyed jack-o'-lantern with a zigzag mouth, an open-mouthed screaming face, and a curved pumpkin smile. Hang three or four different ones along a path and they read as a crowd.
Light enough to hang from anything
The whole thing weighs 45 g and arrives folded into a single bag, so there is no frame to assemble and nothing to weight down. A hook, a nail or a branch and the cord already attached at the neck is the entire installation.
